From the inspection on 16 June 2026
Pupils at this school feel that they belong. They are supported by leaders and staff to successfully overcome challenges in their lives. Staff work diligently to get to know pupils and their families well. Pupils enjoy learning a wide range of subjects. This prepares pupils well for their next stages of education. Leaders ensure that staff provide effective support for families to reduce the barriers to learning and/or wellbeing that pupils face. However, the most significant barrier to learning is that some pupils do not attend school often enough. Too many pupils do not attend school regularly enough. They miss out on the full school offer. Right from the start in the early years, routines are clear and staff take time to get to know children well. This helps children to settle quickly. Relationships between pupils and staff develop as pupils progress through the school. Pupils feel safe. They can explain that staff are easy to talk to. Pupils feel confident that any worries they have will be effectively dealt with by adults whom they trust. Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They focus well in lessons because staff ensure that they understand and follow expectations. Pupils are polite and cooperate with each other. They enjoy contributing to discussions in lessons. Staff ensure that pupils understand potential risks in the local area and how to deal with these. Bullying is rare and dealt with quickly by staff. Pupils enjoy being awarded star pupil for reflecting the school’s core 'DREAMS' values. Many pupils show determination, respect and empathy towards others in their daily behaviour. Pupils benefit from a range of activities, including residential visits and a range of after-school clubs. These broaden pupils' experiences and support their personal development.
What the school should improve
- Leaders should continue their work to improve attendance so that it is at least in line with national averages, ensuring that the school's recent actions are embedded so they lead to sustained reductions in persistent absence.
- Leaders should continue to embed recent changes to the curriculum and approaches to teaching across the school, to ensure that more pupils achieve highly.
