What Ofsted said

From the inspection on 5 November 2024

This school inspires pupils to love learning. Pupils are happy and safe. Pupils and children in the early years achieve well. The school's high ambition for pupils is reflected in the quality of pupils' work around the school. Pupils take pride in their work and presentation. Pupils are respectful, courteous and well-mannered. They understand and champion the school's golden rules to, 'be safe, show respect and work hard'. They are proud of the high standards of behaviour the school has. At social times pupils play happily. They are good friends to each other. They enjoy the quality activities and games they can access that make social times fun and interesting. The school's wider opportunities enrich pupils' learning. Pupils value the informative visitors who come into school, for instance the enrichment of history with a Roman day. They are inspired by visits to places of interest. For example, to places of worship in religious education or to forest school where they develop their self-esteem, self- confidence and improve social skills. Parents and carers are overwhelmingly positive about the school and its welcoming ethos. They value the high level of care and support staff give their children.

What the school should improve

  • The school does not ensure that pupils consistently use and apply the new vocabulary that they are taught. This means that sometimes pupils do not use this new vocabulary to explain their learning and therefore deepen their understanding. The school should support staff to ensure that pupils have the opportunity to use and apply new vocabulary so that they deepen their understanding of this new knowledge.
