Joining this school marks a significant turning point in pupils' lives and their education. When pupils first start at the school, many are at a low ebb. Some have previously experienced a very disrupted education. Through the school's nurturing environment and high-quality support, pupils soon re-engage with education. They rise to the school's high expectations. The success of this is seen in the significant number of pupils who successfully resume full-time education in their home schools. Pupils receive a warm welcome at this school. Strong relationships quickly build pupils' trust. Pupils value staff's kindness and care. They develop a real sense of belonging. This helps pupils to feel safe and to learn without fear of failure. Staff are highly skilled at enabling pupils to experience success. This boosts their confidence and self-worth. The school is calm and purposeful. Typically, behaviour is excellent. On the occasions when pupils' emotions bubble over, staff provide patient support. This ensures that there is minimal interruption to learning. Pupils benefit from many new opportunities and experiences that considerably enhance their wider development. This includes visits to places of worship that broaden pupils' horizons and understanding of other faiths and cultures.
