What Ofsted said

From the inspection on 2 June 2026

Pupils enjoy learning and engage positively with the curriculum, which supports their achievement over time. They speak enthusiastically about their lessons, particularly in Jewish studies, mathematics and science, where practical tasks, discussion and real-life connections deepen understanding. Pupils ask thoughtful questions and build on prior knowledge, enabling steady progress across subjects. They develop secure reading skills and use phonics to support spelling where appropriate. Leaders and staff work deliberately to reduce any barriers to pupils' learning and wellbeing, especially for disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Pupils who find learning more challenging learn alongside their peers and develop resilience because staff consistently encourage them and celebrate their efforts and improvements. Pupils experience a deep sense of belonging within a close-knit, welcoming community where everyone feels 'as one'. They are proud of their school and describe it as a happy place. Relationships are positive here because pupils treat each other with kindness and recognise that staff are approachable and committed to helping them succeed. This helps pupils feel comfortable asking for help, sharing concerns and contributing ideas in lessons. Pupils benefit from a range of wider opportunities, including design and technology projects, chess, performances, visits and links with external settings such as a local special school. These experiences broaden horizons, develop social skills and spark new interests for pupils. Pupils feel safe and trust staff, including when concerns arise beyond school. Behaviour is positive because expectations are clear and understood. Pupils develop self-control and take responsibility for their actions. Bullying is rare and dealt with promptly. Attendance is high because pupils feel valued and enjoy coming to school. Through the curriculum and wider experiences, pupils learn respect, responsibility and understanding of different beliefs, preparing them well as thoughtful members of society.

What the school should improve

  • Leaders should ensure that staff routinely check pupils’ understanding and promptly identify and address misconceptions in lessons and in pupils’ work, so that pupils develop secure and precise knowledge and skills and improve achievement over time.
  • Leaders and those responsible for governance should continue to develop staff expertise so that staff use well-matched adaptations and strategies precisely in lessons to reduce barriers to learning for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
