From the inspection on 13 January 2026

Gratitude and respect are school values that pupils model well at this welcoming and inclusive school. Pupils understand the importance of treating one another in a way that they would like to be treated themselves. One pupil told an inspector how the school makes them feel 'included'. Pupils understand the importance of helping others. For example, school council members advocate fundraising for local and international charities. Instances of bullying are very rare. On the occasions that it does occur, leaders deal with it quickly and effectively. Typically, behaviour in lessons and around the school is positive. This begins in the early years, where children learn to take turns and to follow adult instructions. Year 6 pupils help children in the early years settle into school and to understand expectations. They act as caring role models and show children what the school values look like in action. Pupils have a sense of belonging and safety at the school. The support provided for disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities enables them to make positive progress from their starting points. Pupils enjoy their learning and attend school regularly. When pupils leave Year 6, many are well prepared for their next stage of education in reading, writing and mathematics. This is also the case in a number of other subjects. That said, there are some specific parts of the curriculum where pupils do not achieve as well as they could. Pupils benefit from a broad range of trips and visits, some of which expand their understanding of local history. For example, pupils learn about the role their region played in the textile industry. Interests and skills around textiles are further developed through the school's fashion club. Pupils benefit from a broad array of other clubs, including choir, running and gardening.
