What Ofsted said
From the inspection on 14 July 2026
Pupils are proud to belong to this caring, community-focused school. Pupils receive a warm welcome each morning from staff and leaders who know them well. This makes them feel safe and creates a sense of belonging. Interactions between pupils and staff are very positive. Pupils typically settle quickly and are eager to learn. They rise to the high expectations staff have of their conduct. Most pupils attend school regularly. Pupils enjoy their lessons and typically achieve well. Those who face barriers to their learning, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and disadvantaged pupils, receive the adaptations they need to learn the curriculum alongside their friends. This helps them to make progress from their starting points. Leaders’ recent, successful focus on improving the quality of pupils' writing is helping to ensure that they are well prepared for the next stages of education. Pupils consistently demonstrate the school’s values which are to ‘strive, believe, value and succeed’. This shapes their positive attitudes to learning, how they treat one another and how they contribute to the school’s calm and harmonious atmosphere. Pupils behave very well and play together happily. Bullying is rare and pupils know that should it happen, staff will quickly deal with it. Opportunities for pupils to take on extra responsibilities are plentiful. This helps to develop pupils’ confidence and leadership skills. Pupils benefit from a wide range of clubs, including sports and crafting clubs. They have many opportunities to expand their interests and talents, for example through learning to play a musical instrument, visiting museums, exploring the local landscape and visiting local farms. Children in the early years thrive. This is because routines, expectations and high-quality interactions are firmly embedded. The strong focus on developing children’s spoken language helps them to quickly develop communication skills. They grow in confidence as they enjoy exploring purposeful and learning environments. This prepares them well for future learning.
What the school should improve
- Leaders should ensure that teachers consistently design activities that help pupils to develop sufficient depth of knowledge.
- Leaders should ensure that staff provide timely and effective support so that pupils catch up quickly if they have gaps in their learning.
