Pupils are proud to belong to Longford Park Primary School. They talk confidently and positively about being part of a welcoming community, where ‘everybody is respected’. Pupils value the trusting relationships they have with staff and each other. They feel happy and safe. Parents and carers appreciate the strong, caring relationships that staff build with families and the support offered when pupils need additional help. Pupils want to attend because school is an encouraging place, where they feel known, valued and supported. They benefit from learning that is purposeful and interesting. In lessons, pupils take pride in sharing their work and achievements. They are committed learners and are eager to do well. Leaders take swift, effective action to reduce barriers so that pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and pupils who are disadvantaged access the same curriculum as their peers. Most pupils progress well through the curriculum and achieve well. Pupils behave respectfully and courteously. They value the leadership roles available to them, such as being anti-bullying ambassadors, play leaders, eco-warriors and librarians. Pupils understand how these roles help them to contribute positively to school life. Pupils also learn to make a difference to their wider community through taking part in local charity events and visits to care homes. This helps pupils to be well prepared to be responsible and caring citizens. A wide range of clubs, such as chess, origami, sport and choir, are available. These help pupils to further develop their talents and interests, while educational enhancements help bring learning to life. Breaktimes are sociable and well managed. Pupils play happily together and organise games independently. They learn how to keep themselves safe, including online. Bullying is extremely rare, but if it occurs leaders take swift action so that incidents are not repeated. Pupils know who to speak to if they are worried about anything and trust adults to help them.

What the school should improve

• Leaders should continue to further embed consistent handwriting expectations so that pupils develop fluent, legible writing and produce work that reflects leaders' high standards. • Leaders should ensure that learning is designed to help to further deepen pupils’ recall of key knowledge across the curriculum, enabling them to know more, remember more and make stronger connections over time. • Leaders should further support pupils to apply their knowledge accurately and present their learning to the same high standard in some areas of the wider curriculum as they do other subjects.
