What Ofsted said

From the inspection on 9 June 2026

Pupils are proud to belong to this caring school. Each morning, pupils are warmly welcomed at the gate by leaders and Timmy, the school’s dog. After a friendly, personal greeting, pupils quickly settle in their classrooms, eager to share their news with their friends and staff. Pupils know and live the school’s behaviour motto, ‘kind words, kind hands, kind heart.’ Diversity and difference are celebrated. Pupils welcome others, whatever their background. Pupils feel safe and valued. They behave well in lessons and around the school. In the playground, pupils manage their own games, such as football, sensibly and fairly, without needing an adult to step in and referee. Pupils trust the adults around them. They know who to turn to if something is troubling them. Timmy plays a part in this, too, offering comfort to pupils who are upset. Bullying is rare, and pupils are confident that it will never be tolerated by staff. Pupils enjoy their lessons. Children make a confident start in the early years, where they quickly build the foundations in reading, writing and number that they need to succeed in Year 1. As they move through the school, pupils achieve well. By the time they leave at the end of Year 6, they are suitably prepared for the next stage of their education. Pupils enjoy clubs such as street dance and chess. They are proud to take on responsibilities around the school. Above all, pupils belong to a friendly community where everyone is encouraged to do their best.

What the school should improve

  • Building on their already successfully work to improve and maintain levels of pupils' attendance, leaders should seek to ensure that, over time, more pupils attend at levels above the national average.
  • Leaders should ensure that teaching is highly effective across all classes and subjects, including making sure that any gaps in pupils' writing knowledge are addressed fully effectively, so that recent improvements in pupils' outcomes are sustained over time.
  • Leaders should sharpen how they track pupils' learning within the personal development programme, including participation in extra-curricular activities, to ensure that all pupils benefit fully from this aspect of the school's work.
