Frome Vale Academy is a calm, purposeful school where learning drives the culture. Leaders believe every child can achieve and never let barriers hold pupils back. They make sure children understand that education can open doors for their future. Staff and pupils share high expectations. Pupils thrive in a safe, predictable environment built on strong relationships and effective teaching. A big part of school life is the Frome Vale Citizen approach, which helps pupils feel they belong and teaches them to be responsible, confident individuals. Pupils quickly learn that their voice matters. Leaders listen to pupils and give them real opportunities to shape school life. For example, pupils helped redesign the Rainbow behaviour system. Some pupils also become 'safety ambassadors' and share their ideas with the trust board. Because the school prioritises speaking and leadership skills, many pupils grow into confident, articulate learners. Leaders support pupils to become independent. Pupils learn how to manage their behaviour and emotions so they can focus on learning. The curriculum is carefully planned and based on research, helping pupils build knowledge over time. Attendance and achievement are good for all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive thoughtful adaptations that remove barriers and help them progress well. Staff know pupils extremely well, especially those facing extra challenges. This allows them to provide the right support at the right time. Strong links with the local community give pupils and families even more opportunities and help. The school also works closely with trust partners and Bristol charities to strengthen its pastoral support. This approach ensures that vulnerable families receive timely help and that pupils stay engaged, positive, and ready to learn.

• Leaders should ensure that all staff in the early years plan and enact high-quality interactions that engage children throughout the day.
• Leaders should embed systems which ensure barriers to learning are consistently addressed for all pupils and across all curriculum areas.
