From the inspection on 6 May 2026
Pupils join Digitech Studio school in Year 10 or 12 to study a specialised curriculum in creative or digital arts. They enjoy learning a curriculum that covers many creative areas, from Esports and digital technology to art, acting and music. Pupils gain specialist knowledge and are prepared well for future careers in the creative-based sector. The large number of students who join the post-16 courses select specialist courses run by either the school or one of their three partner providers. This means students attend different settings for the entirety of their programmes of study. Students, wherever they complete their studies, are well cared for. Leaders work with their partner providers to oversee the high-quality education and support for students. Because pupils are only at the school for a short time, staff work quickly and skilfully to help them settle in. Pupils experience a warm and supportive environment. Many pupils arrive with a multitude of complex barriers that have built up over time. Leaders explore these thoroughly and work swiftly to remove them. Pupils share how this helps them to quickly feel they belong. Pupils respond positively to their learning because of the school's clear expectations and routines. Many pupils join the school having previously had a disrupted education and with low attendance. Although pupils’ attendance continues to sit below the national average, most improve their attendance substantially compared to their previous engagement with education. Pupils receive extensive pastoral care. They build trusting professional relationships with staff. Pupils feel safe. Leaders act quickly to manage any incidents of bullying or derogatory behaviours. Student leaders represent pupils' and students' views and contribute to decisions about the school. Pupils enjoy opportunities to extend their experiences through a range of clubs and events, such as the Esports championship or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
What the school should improve
- Leaders should build on the work to improve attendance quickly as pupils transition to the school so that pupil attendance and persistent absence continue to improve.
- Leaders should ensure that strategies to develop pupils’ literacy skills are implemented effectively across all subjects.
