What Ofsted said
From the inspection on 19 May 2026
The school sits in the heart of the local community. At the start of each day, staff welcome pupils and parents and carers as they enter this caring, inclusive school. Staff are committed to building a culture of belonging, where all pupils are known and cared for. This culture is embedded throughout the school. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who face other barriers to learning are included in all areas of school life. This includes those who attend the specially resourced provision for pupils with SEND. They make rapid progress from their starting points. Children in the early years make a successful start to their school life. Pupils are safe. They know staff will support them if they have any concerns. Pupils behave superbly throughout the school day. They open doors for visitors. They are kind to one another and cooperate, for example when talking about their learning with a partner. Pupils say bullying is rare and that staff would quickly intervene. Pupils benefit from a calm and focused learning environment. As a result, pupils thrive. Pupils enjoy coming to school. Their high attendance shows this. Where needed, leaders work closely with families to offer support. Pupils listen carefully in lessons. This reflects their keen and positive attitudes to learning. Pupils achieve highly. Across subjects, they quickly gain the knowledge they need. Pupils perform very well in the key stage 2 national tests. They are very well prepared for the next stage of education. Pupils feel well supported to make this next step. Pupils’ time at Dickens Heath is further enhanced by a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including musical and sporting clubs and competitions. This helps pupils to develop their talents and interests well.
