Pupils feel happy, safe and welcome in this inclusive school. Staff greet pupils with warmth each morning. This helps pupils start the day calmly and with confidence. Strong and caring relationships help pupils feel known and valued. Pupils trust staff and feel able to share worries. They say adults listen and help. Parents also speak in positive terms about the support their children receive. Pupils behave well in lessons and around school. Clear routines help pupils feel secure and ready to learn. Classrooms are calm and purposeful. Pupils show respect for one another and enjoy learning together. They move around school sensibly and show care for younger pupils. Hearing impaired pupils learn with their peers for much of the day. All pupils learn British Sign Language. This shared language helps pupils feel included and builds a strong sense of belonging. Pupils enjoy their learning. They talk with pride about what they know and what they can do. They meet new ideas in small steps and build secure knowledge over time. Reading sits at the heart of school life. Pupils read with growing fluency and enjoy choosing books that interest them. They achieve well across the curriculum and gain the knowledge they need for the next stage of their education. Pupils enjoy a wide range of opportunities beyond lessons. Recent experiences include White Woods Wonders activities, such as visiting a theatre and building a den. Pupils also join sports clubs, choir and local visits. These experiences help pupils grow in confidence and discover new interests. Pupils take on roles such as school councillors, playground leaders and reading buddies. They enjoy helping others and playing a full part in school life. Children in the early years feel safe and settle quickly. Warm routines help them grow in confidence and independence. Children develop language well and explore with curiosity. Staff work closely with families and build strong partnerships. Children move into Year 1 ready to thrive.

What the school should improve

• Leaders should continue to strengthen the school's writing curriculum. They should set out the early writing knowledge pupils need in clear and precise steps that start from the early years. They should support staff to teach these steps well so that pupils secure strong foundational skills and any gaps in learning are identified and addressed quickly.
