From the inspection on 30 June 2026

Pupils thrive at Bowbrook Primary. It is an ambitious school, where positive relationships and high expectations shape daily life. Pupils describe the school as ‘a school of opportunity’. Each morning, staff greet pupils enthusiastically and take a genuine interest in their wellbeing. As a result, pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn. They speak passionately about their school and are proud to be part of a community, where kindness, respect and achievement are celebrated. Pupils enjoy a broad, engaging curriculum that encourages curiosity and a love of learning. Lessons are carefully structured so that pupils build knowledge securely over time and gain confidence in applying what they have learned. Staff identify pupils’ needs quickly and provide effective support. This ensures that all pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, achieve well from their starting points and are prepared successfully for the next stage of their education. Behaviour is calm, respectful and purposeful. Pupils understand the school’s routines and meet the high standards expected of them. In lessons, they concentrate well, persevere with challenging work and take pride in their achievements. At social times, pupils play cooperatively and show genuine consideration for others. Bullying is rare. Pupils are confident that any concerns they raise will be resolved promptly by caring adults. Pupils access a rich range of opportunities beyond the classroom. They participate readily in clubs, educational visits, sporting activities and performances that broaden their experiences and develop their talents. Many pupils take on leadership responsibilities, such as serving on the school council, acting as belonging ambassadors or eco-warriors. These opportunities help pupils develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of citizenship. The school’s inclusive culture ensures that every pupil feels a sense of belonging. Pupils have high levels of attendance, enjoy school life and embrace new challenges with confidence. They move through the school as confident young people, ready for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead.

What the school should improve

  • Leaders should continue with their work to strengthen staff's use of assessment information to ensure that learning opportunities enable pupils to deepen their knowledge and understanding so that more pupils excel academically.
